What is Motability?

First established in 1977 to provide affordable, convenient motoring for disabled people and their families, the Motability Scheme is a not-for-profit partnership between the charitable sector, the Government, leading banks, and the motor and insurance industries.

It was created to enable disabled people to lease a new car in exchange for their government-funded mobility allowance. Over 640,000 people avail of the Motability Scheme, giving disabled drivers and passengers an increased level of independence and freedom.
