
In order to support business growth, McElmeel Mobility Services is looking for a Research and Development (R&D) Engineer to support our fast paced, dynamic engineering team. The successful candidate will be a key contributor to the engineering team; supporting new product development and drive continuous improvement to existing designs.
Main Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the wider team in relation to new product development including management, marketing and production,
- Work closely with Engineering team to design and document new conversions, develop new processes, update production build manuals, and carry out fault finding exercises,
- Liaise with R&D team in the creation/modification of parts, technical drawings, and Bill of Materials,
- Implementation of new technologies, manufacturing processes and materials,
- Sourcing and liaising with suppliers of purchased components,
- Follow engineering change control procedure where applicable,
- Record and analyse Time and Motion studies to drive improvements in production times,
- Create and update all relevant documents for COCs/Certification/Testing,
- Schedule and visit test houses to perform component/vehicle crash test campaigns,
- Create and manage multiple design projects within set timeframe,
- Be responsible for the correct use of personal protective equipment as per the company policy.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Degree educated or equivalent in Engineering,
- 3+ years experience in a manufacturing industry related role,
- Previous experience implementing change control within a production environment,
- Experience in solid/surface modelling using Solidworks or similar,
- Working knowledge of steelwork is an advantage,
- Full Driving Licence,
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (inc Word and Excel), Office 365.
