The Role:

Now Hiring Fitters to join our Production Team.  Successful candidates will be responsible for the conversion of standard vehicles into wheelchair accessible vehicles. McElmeel Mobility Services have an industry leading amount of European Type Approved conversions and you will be expected to work on a range of vehicles converting them to the highest standards.



Responsibilities:

  • Understand the build process expected for conversion of vehicles for wheelchair access,
  • Cut out/modify the floor of the vehicle to prepare for conversion,
  • Fit conversion and ramp,
  • Ability to use hand tools such as saws, grinders, and drills effectively,
  • Fit Wheelchair and Passenger Restraint systems,
  • Fit and wire other accessories on request i.e. winch, side steps,
  • Build conversions following the build manual for the set vehicle,
  • Solve problems that occur during the build process,
  • Identification of solutions that improve efficiency and reduce costs.



The Ideal Candidate:
  • Demonstrable experience in a similar role,
  • Full driving licence,
  • Have the skills to find solutions in challenging situations,
  • A great work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude,
  • Excellent time keeping,
  • Pride in quality workmanship.
  • Initiative to work alone as well as successfully within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills,
  • Ability to follow instructions and execute effectively
