The Role:

The Mechanic/Fitter will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of the company hire fleet, conducting repairs on customer vehicles and fitting adaptations for disabled drivers and passengers.

Responsibilities:
  • be accountable for H&S requirements in your work area, ensuring you work in a safe work environment through maintaining H&S procedure and ensuring staff work in a safe manner,
  • be responsible for the correct use of personal protective equipment  as per the company PPE policy, 
  • be responsible for the correct operation of all power tools and ensure all tools are looked after and maintained,
  • be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of the Company hire fleet, 
  • diagnose vehicles based on observational and mechanical testing as well as information provided by the customer, 
  • repair customer vehicles based on the diagnosed issues,
  • be responsible for fitting vehicle adaptations, including hand controls, left foot accelerators, steering aids, pedal guards, boot hoists and roof top boxes.
  • conduct repairs aiming for maximum reliability,
  • take responsibility for all work you carry out, ensuring that it is complete to the required standard,
  • ensure all job cards are completed with the required information and are signed off before being passed to the office, 
  • complete any call out repairs at the request of the workshop manager, ensuring parts are available to complete a full repair when onsite,   
  • test drive vehicles after repairs are complete to ensure mechanical soundness and determine whether any other problems exist, 
  • liaise with customers who arrive onsite, ensuring repairs are completed to a high standard, provide customer with a detailed overview on their repair, and ensure they are happy before leaving.
  • ensure your workstation is clean and tidy at all times, that all toolboxes/trolleys are stored away in designated area at the end of each shift,
  • carry out any other duties within the department as requested by the workshop manager.



The Ideal Candidate

  • 3+years relevant experience,
  • Full driving licence,
  • Mechanical fitting experience,
  • Highly organised, 
  • Confident, collaborative and possess a "can-do" approach,
  • Excellent time management.
