McElmeel Mobility Services are a Market Leader in adaptation, conversion and supply of vehicles for disabled drivers and passengers. The Role:

The Design Engineer will support the R&D Team to continually update and improve existing Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles in areas such as product revisions and subsequent Type Approvals.

The successful candidate will develop their knowledge of our industry to become a key contributor to new product development with tasks including the design and drawing up of components and creation of build manuals and other supporting documents.



Responsibilities:


·        Work closely with R&D Manager in relation to new product development,
·        Work closely with Junior Design Engineer to create and update build manuals, 
·        Work closely with Junior Design Engineer to design/edit parts and complete engineer drawings.  
·        Update bill of materials,
·        Update Engineering Change Log when applicable,
·        Time and Motion studies,
·        Create and update stage 2 certificate of conformity (COC) for all vehicle conversions accordingly and liaise with Motability Administrators to advise of any changes, 
·        Attend overseas testing as required by the business, updating production and management of new changes to type approval and PAS requirements,
·        Ensure the production team are operating to the latest type approval number which will be updated on all VIN stickers,
·        Contribute to the overall performance of the R&D Team.


The Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate should have:

·        Degree in Engineering or similar,
·        3+ years experience in a manufacturing industry related role,
·        Experience in SolidWorks and AutoCAD,
·        Working knowledge of steelwork is an advantage
·        Full Driving Licence
·        Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365.
