McElmeel Mobility Services with another Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle First

McElmeel Mobility Services are proud to announce that not only are we Northern Ireland's multi award winning manufacturer of Wheelchair Accessible Vehicles, but we have once again set new standards across Europe by being the first convertor of vehicles for wheelchair access, to retain Ford’s prestigious QVM accreditation.

Ford’s QVM scheme has been designed to ensure that Ford only works with vehicle modifiers who are regulated to a level that compliments their own world class standards. In 2016, having pioneered the Ford Custom onto the Motability scheme, Ford choose McElmeel Mobility Services to be the first convertor of WAV’s in Europe to undergo this program. The Ford Custom Tourneo is now the single most popular wheelchair accessible vehicle on Motability.

In April 2019, McElmeel Mobility Services were once again at the head of the queue when we became the first company in Europe to have our QVM status reviewed. Coincidently, as we were launching another unique product at Naidex, the Ford Courier Finn, we shown our commitment to quality by passing the QVM with an even higher score than originally achieved in 2016.

Simon Robinson Chief Engineer of Special Vehicle Engineering at Ford Motor Company stated:

“I was really pleased to see that McElmeel Mobility have retained the level of standard expected, by Ford Motor Company, of its convertors to be reaccredited as Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifiers during a recent audit by the Special Vehicle Engineering team from Ford. This shows that McElmeel have re-proven and shown that they are consistently carrying out conversions according to the strict guidelines recommended by Ford Motor Company.”

Due to our customer-centric approach of developing fit-for-purpose accessible vehicles, McElmeel Mobility has saw a 100% growth in turnover over the last three years, delivering vehicles to every part of the UK and Ireland. 2019 has seen the final phase of a £900,000 investment which will increase our production capacity by 400% from 2016. This commitment has included the purchase of new ground for expansion and will finish with a doubling of staff numbers.

In 2020 McElmeel Mobility will celebrate our 70th birthday, far and away the longest established manufacturer and adaptor of vehicles for disabled drivers and passengers in Ireland and the UK. By continuing to exceed the standards set down by Ford, McElmeel Mobility can continue to grow to ensure that everyone in the UK and Ireland will be able to choose from a large range of wheelchair accessible vehicles designed with the wheelchair user in mind, supplied directly from us.

Its all stations go at McElmeel Mobility as plans are already in place for the next part of our ongoing improvement strategy. The strong relationship with Ford gives McElmeel Mobility Services the knowledge that we are investing in new products which will continue to give our customers a better choice of WAV’s to suit their needs.
