The long wheel base Ford Tourneo Custom Fortitude from McElmeel Mobility Services is the perfect vehicle for larger families who need plenty of room for the wheelchair user and seating for additional passengers. The wheelchair access design maximises flat floor space in the Fortitude which also makes it tow bar compatible.
Available to buy privately or through the Motability Scheme, this conversion from McElmeel’s gives an enviable blend of options with comfort and drivability to match.
The Ford Custom Fortitude is a highly spec car available in Titanium or Zetec, Manual or Automatic, with front and rear park assist, DAB, Applink with Ipod functionality, multiple USB port’s and Bluetooth as standard. There are a range of optional extras such as sat nav, rear air con and rear-view camera which can be ordered on request.
The Fortitude is a great balance between original seats and good wheelchair space and offers class leading leg room and comfortable seating throughout the vehicle. With split fully tipping seats for easy access out of both doors and seat belts housed within each rear seat, plus the option of conference seating, this truly is a adaptable family vehicle.
The wheelchair space is accessed via a gate ramp at the rear, so that when the vehicle is not being used as a wheelchair accessible vehicle the ramp can be opened to give you unrestrictive access to the boot area.
The wheelchair space is created by tipping up 2 rear seats allowing the vehicle to be used as a WAV without needing to remove seats. The Ford Fortitude offers an entrance height of 130cm and a ramp width of 82cm. The internal roof height has been adjusted using the specially moulded insert to give you an ascetically pleasing 136cm. The wheelchair space is 80 cm wide by 120 cm long. All rear seats are removable to create extra space. The easy to use 3 point seat belt that clicks in to an easy to reach seatbelt stalk and the optional rear pod position is another example of person centred design.
The Ford Fortitude has full European type approval and carries PAS accreditation making it available on the Motability Scheme. McElmeel Mobility Services are the first WAV convertor in Europe to hold QVM accreditation from Ford and as members of WAVCA and in cooperation with the VCA, our vehicles have been rigorously tested to ensure the safety and comfort of your wheelchair passengers
