The LWB Ford Tourneo Custom A-Cab 2.0 Zetec 105 Manual from McElmeel Mobility Services has been designed in consultation with taxi drivers, wheelchair passengers and vehicle licensing agencies to give taxi drivers a modern 9 passenger wheelchair accessible vehicle that meets accessibility legislation in the UK and Ireland.

The A-Cab comes with bluetooth and park assist as standard. With great drivability the Ford Custom provides the best base vehicle for a wheelchair accessible taxi, offering class leading leg room and comfortable seating throughout the vehicle. With split fully tipping seats for easy access through both doors and seat belts housed within each rear seat. At the passenger side door a manually retractable side step has been added to meet the minimum step height requirements. A brightly coloured handle has been added at the door to help those customers who need it.

A gate ramp has been installed to give taxi operators a strong quick to deploy ramp to give the wheelchair user confidence as they are going in and out of the vehicle. When the A-Cab is not being used as a wheelchair accessible vehicle, the gate ramp can be opened to give unrestricted access to the boot area. The height of the rear door is 130cm and the wheelchair space is 80cm wide by 120cm long. The internal roof height can be adjusted using a specially moulded insert to give an aesthetically pleasing 135cm.

When the wheelchair is in place only 2 rear seats are tipped up giving a class leading 7 passengers plus the wheelchair user. All of our wheelchair and passenger restraint systems have been geometrically tested in this vehicle to give you the peace of mind that your passengers safety has been held in the highest regard. All tie down systems are easy to use and adjustable and your passenger restraint system exceeds the minimum height requirement.
